Ty Shattuck | Co-Founder & Associate Executive

Ty Shattuck, Senior PartnerTy is co-founder of Trivaris. While Ty is no longer active within Trivaris itself (with the exception of his regular blogs,) he remains an integral part of the broader Trivaris team through his role as President and CEO of PV Labs. PV Labs is one of Trivaris’ most successful portfolio companies and was named as one of Canada’s Top 200 Fastest Growing Companies by Profit Magazine in 2011. Ty’s years of engineering, senior management and investment experience in the aerospace, defence and high-tech industries has given him a deep understanding of how to start, manage and grow companies in emerging markets.

Ty began his career in the Royal Canadian Air Force where he developed an expertise for bringing new technologies to theatre. He then transitioned into the private sector – first working in systems and software engineering roles, and then moving into management, where he was eventually promoted to a senior executive role within a large aerospace and defence company. A self-proclaimed geek, Ty has spent his career at the intersection of technology development and business design. Today, he leverages his ability to envision the potential of new ideas along with his strong bias for pragmatism to help inventors, researchers, entrepreneurs and high-technology organizations bring their innovative ideas to profitable business reality.

Ty is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario and a Six Sigma Black Belt. He is past Chair of the Mohawk College Board of Governors and Adjunct Professor at the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD) University where he specializes in innovative business design. Ty was the recipient of a military commendation and an Ontario Provincial Police Commissioner’s citation and has been recognized as Engineer of the Year by The Ontario Society for Professional Engineers for his local contribution to the engineering profession and the community. He has a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering from the Royal Military College of Canada and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Toronto.


Rick Court | Associate Executive

Rick Court, Chief Financial Officer

Rick has spent his career as a serial entrepreneur in the technology sector. With a background in finance, marketing and technology, Rick’s in-depth understanding of start-up challenges comes from his first-hand experience as CEO for a number of successful companies including Link Logistics. Under his leadership, Link Logistics, a software/internet company in the transportation sector, became the standard in the industry, and remains the standard over 10 years after Rick negotiated its sale to a NSE-listed company.

Rick has extensive experience as a corporate/investment banker with several financial organizations. He has completed several successful mergers, acquisitions and financing for his clients in many different fields.

In addition to his responsibilities at Trivaris, Rick is also Dean of International Education for Mohawk College. He travels extensively on behalf of the College to recruit International Students and negotiate partnerships – primarily in China. He is Past Chair of the Board of Directors for the Art Gallery of Hamilton, Vice-Chair of the Innovation Factory and sits on the Board of Mohawk College Enterprises. Rick holds a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Business Administration from McMaster University and a Masters Certificate in Supply Chain and Logistics from York University.


Alastair Jenkins | Associate Executive

Alastair Jenkins

Alastair is currently the Chief Executive Officer of GeoDigital International, a Trivaris success story and world leader in the provision of airborne LiDAR, asset mapping, and inspection services for the electric utility, pipeline, telecommunications, highway, railway and related industries.

With his 25 years of experience in the high-tech, aerospace and GIS remote sensing fields, Alastair brings a wealth of knowledge from his past CEO appointments and other senior executive positions in technology, finance, marketing and administration.

As part owner of a company in the visual information sector, he was a member of the management team that was responsible for taking the company public and introducing government programs for the acquisition of new businesses. He later endeavoured into new ventures that would also become publicly traded companies.
Alastair has an Honours Degree in Physics from the Imperial College London, and conducted post-graduate business studies at York University and The U.S. Navy Post Graduate School.


John Bastedo | Associate Executive

John BastedoJohn has a strong pedigree of operational experience and expertise in high-tech engineering and product development. Born in Toronto, Ontario, John Bastedo joined Wescam in 1979 while completing studies at Ryerson University in Mechanical Engineering. Part of the management buyout team that led to Wescam’s emergence as an industry leader in high-tech surveillance, John was a member of the core team that grew Wescam’s revenues from less than $1 Million in 1987 to greater than $166 Million by 2001.


Gora Ganguli | Associate Executive

Gora is President & CEO of VitaSound Audio, Inc. an early stage technology company. Gora has developed extensive experience as a technology/business executive specifically in the micro-electronics and semiconductor industries, including 14 years in hearing instruments.

Gora has held senior roles for international companies, and has served two terms on the Board of Directors for the Hearing Industry Association, the Better Hearing Institute. Gora has also undertook international assignments while working with one of Canada’s leading technology companies.

Involved in university- industry relations throughout his career, Gora was a member of the original team that developed the Advanced Design and Manufacturing Institute (ADMI) program and remains a member of its Program Committee. He was on the Advisory Board of the Operations Management Program at McGill University’s Faculty of Management, where he also taught Operations Management as a Faculty Lecturer. Gora holds a B.Eng. in mechanical engineering and an MBA, both from McGill University in Montreal, Canada


Dr. Eiji Yafuso | Associate Executive

Eiji Yafuso

Eiji has spent his 20 year career at the forefront of advanced electro-optical systems research. Formerly the manager of the advanced optical design and metrology group at General Atomics, Eiji earned his PhD in Optical Sciences from the Optical Sciences Center of the University of Arizona and was the recipient of patents in optical imaging, laser communications, and metrology. Eiji has managed technical teams for companies such as Trex Enterprises, and Science and Technology International, developing a wide array of optical technologies, including hyper spectral, high-speed and infrared imaging.


Declan Keogh | Associate Executive

Declan Keogh

Declan has spent his academic and industry career involved in research and development for a variety of new products and technologies. As the Vice President of the Industrial & Infrastructure Division, Declan is responsible for infrastructure, asset mapping and high-speed manufacturing process control applications. He also oversees business development activities within the industrial and infrastructure sectors. Declan has a Bachelors of Engineering and Management and obtained a Masters of Applied Science from McMaster University as a member of the Brockhouse Institute of Materials Research and the Department of Materials Science and Engineering.
